Olive Grove

In recent centuries the site has been used to grow olive trees and as a result when clearing the land for these agricultural purposes the stones have been laid on top of one another to create dry-stone walls of up to 2 meters high. These walls tend to follow the natural contour lines and create enclosed spaces in which the olive trees flourish.

Historic Mediterranean saying is "man should live where the olive tree grows" typical local Feng Shui, due to the fact that the trees will flourish when protected from cold coastal winds and damaging harsh environments.

The Concept is therefore to divert the stone walls and provide a series of enclosed spaces within the olive grove and to maintain the trees by diverting buildings around the existing pattern allowing them to dominate.

Concept

We thereby integrate the resort with the natural usage and the current landscape. This Concept strategy will see trees emerging in unusual places culminating in the integration of trees into the swimming pools. This strategy positions the Resort as a natural green environmentally integrated development. The spaces provided by these "Stone Contours" are then roofed with long span flush metal wings which provide coverage to the spaces which are then enclosed by minimally framed glazing. The idea of healthy indoor/outdoor space is maximized, together with perfect privacy whatever the season. This idea is followed by the Private Residences and Resort Pavilions.
